Calgary marks Earth Day

Friday is Earth Day around the globe, and there are many ways to take part in Calgary.

The annual event was first celebrated in 1970 and continues to grow every year.

The Habitat for Humanity Restore is encouraging people to drop off old electronics for recycling.

The proceeds will benefit their housing projects.

At the University of Calgary, there’s a campus clean-up and barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

At Mount Royal University, they are holding a special Earth Day movie screening of Love Thy Nature.

The award-winning film is narrated by actor Liam Neeson and starts at 3:30 p.m.
