Premier Rachel Notley is meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

The Delta Lodge in Kananaskis welcomes Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for the Cabinet Retreat.

The Prime Minister is meeting with Premier Rachel Notely to discuss how to help Alberta.

Keith Brownsey Political Science professor at Mount Royal University told 660 News pipelines are sure to be a hot topic of conversation.

“They’re going to focus on pipelines and they’re going to focus on what kind of help Alberta needs both internally, in terms of the high rates of unemployment that we are suffering from today because of the collapse in the price of oil and natural gas on the one hand and on the other hand let’s rebuild the transmission, the oil and gas infrastructure in this country,” Brownsey said.

He adds this meeting can only help Alberta crude reach tidewater.

“Mister Trudeau has been making a lot of noise lately that he supports Alberta’s efforts to get our oil to world markets oil and natural gas lets not forget, and it would be to the entire country’s benefit, at least benefit us in a financial sense,” Brownsey said.

Brownsey said Calgarians are hoping for an agreement.

“We have Energy East, Northern Gateway and the Kinder Morgan line out to the West Coast down towards Coquitlam over the Rockies, so they’re three big pipeline projects ready to go and I think Calgarians, Albertans are looking for one of these to get an approval,” Brownsey said.

The meeting takes place Sunday at 7:30pm.
