The B.C. Green Party announced the nomination of its candidate for Boundary-Similkameen, Vonnie Lavers.

Lavers brings a wide range of experience from her many years of entrepreneurial ventures including new business creation and development, public relations, marketing and communications, non-profit leadership, community organization development and government relations.

“We can build and will build a clean economy,” said Lavers. “It’s time for new thinking, where families flourish, communities flourish and our province flourishes using common sense principles that nurture people’s livelihoods and enjoyment of nature.”

A graduate from Mount Royal University in Calgary, Lavers graduated with a public relations education. She values volunteers and believes that through community service, a sense of respect for others and the world around us is found.

Lavers, originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, is a long-time resident of B.C. She received the Governor General’s Award in 2012 for her commitment to providing healthy food to families in need.

Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, welcomed Lavers’ nomination.

“I am delighted to have Vonnie on the B.C. Greens team,” said Weaver. “Her commitment to food security for those struggling with affordability is commendable. Her extensive business experience and passion for her community will make her an exceptional representative for the people of Boundary-Similkameen.”

There are now three candidates running in the Boundary-Similkameen including incumbent Linda Larson with the B.C. Liberals, BCNDP candidate Colleen Ross and now Lavers.
