After enjoying Halloween, some Calgarians celebrated Day of the Dead on November 1, 2015.

The traditional Mexican celebration known as Dia de Muertos, was held at Mount Royal University and featured brightly-coloured alters, sugar skulls and traditional face painting.

Day of the Dead is a national holiday in Mexico and has been celebrated for hundreds of years. Similar celebrations are held around the world, where November first is known as All Saint’s Day.

Dozens of people took part in the Calgary celebration, many taking home traditional Bread of the Dead.
